Meet Andrea "Penny" Arellano, LCPC
Penny is a mental health provider with over a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and the military community.
Inspired by her grandfather, who measured Albert Einstein's brainwaves in the 1950s, Penny developed a lifelong interest in the complexities of the human brain and a passion for helping people harness their capacity for growth. Her journey led her to earn a baccalaureate degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, serve in the United States Marine Corps, and complete a Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
A Marine Corps veteran, Penny has contributed to suicide-related research at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences through the Henry Jackson Foundation and has provided expertise in suicide prevention for the Marine Corps.
Her clinical work focuses on supporting adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, grief and loss, life transitions, domestic abuse, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, and other adverse life experiences. She also works with individuals struggling with overthinking, perfectionism, boundary difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and low self-worth.
She understands that these challenges can deeply affect how people see themselves, relate to others, and move through daily life. In her work, she helps clients make sense of their experiences, reduce patterns that feel stuck or overwhelming, and develop a stronger sense of self-understanding, stability, and self-worth.
Her approach is collaborative and grounded in a person-centered and psychodynamic foundation, integrating evidence-based interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Penny provides therapy in both English and Spanish and is committed to creating a compassionate, empathetic, culturally responsive, and supportive environment for personal growth.
